The cumulative effort which went into Zurg is split into a number of different posts here; but I wanted to compile all the photos which were taken from beginning to end (significanly less towards the end, as I struggled for time) to show the evolution of the costume. It invariably starts with a piece of wire, and a simple shape.
(range-dog included for scale!)
Lower body, which was cut from the same type of material as the cape, was composed of two separate triangular shapes which were stitched together to give me more leg room - walking is one of those utilities that I was convinced couldn't be sacrificed in the name of the costume!
That's about it as far as photos go. The only things I don't have evidence of are the gauntlets (simply shaped using pizza/cereal box cardboard and painted red and silver) and the midriff (which took time to figure out, but was eventually composed of wrapped up newspaper with material stitched over it, forming tubes which were placed one on top of another).
It's been a blast.
